Canon Phil Moor

Canon Phil Moor is a familiar friendly face in St Mary's as a regular celebrant of Holy Mass.

To anyone who has had the pleasure of being at a Whole College Mass in our Sports Hall, with upwards of 2,000 people raising the rafters with music, prayers and song, it is a truly remarkable experience.

He also celebrates Mass for us on Holy Days of Obligation and serves at other occasions.

He accompanied our trip to Lourdes in 2012, (pictured) when Sixth Formers and staff assisted a party of sick and disabled people during their visit to the shrine.

Canon Phil was born in Wallasey in 1966. He served on the altar at St Alban's from the age of seven to the age of 18, and attended St Anselm's College, Birkenhead.

In September 1992  he followed his vocation to Ushaw College, County Durham, to train for the priesthood and was ordained at St Alban's, Liscard on 4th July 1978.

His first parish was St Joseph's, Sale 1978-2001; he was then chaplain to Wythenshawe Hospital while living at Sacred Heart, Baguley 2001-2004.  He then became Parish Priest of Holy Cross & St Paul's, Birkenhead from 2004-2006.  Holy Cross & St Paul's then merged with Our Lady's and Canon Phil remained as Parish Priest until 2009.
