Dear Parents and Carers,
The Modern Languages Department is pleased to be organising a trip to Berlin, Germany for students currently in year 7, from Wednesday 7th to Friday 9th December 2016.
The trip is organised by NST and we will be staying for two night’s half board in a central hotel which is specially designed for school groups. A full programme of activities has been arranged, including a trip up the TV tower, bowling and a visit to the Christmas market.
The cost of the trip will be £365 per pupil. Included in this price is:
The only additional cost will be a moderate amount of spending money for souvenirs and for lunches. Students will also need their own individual passport and a European Health Insurance Card. These can be obtained either from the Post Office or on-line. The EHIC is free of charge.
This is the first time that we are running this trip and anticipate competition for places to be high as this is the only KS3 trip to Germany. We are committed to providing our students with a fantastic opportunity to experience German culture and improve their linguistic ability.
Clearly safety and security is our highest priority, so we need to be able to rely on the full cooperation of all students. Therefore, only children with a proven track record of good behaviour will be allowed to take part in the tour.
If you would like your child to take part in this exciting trip, please detach, complete and return the form below, with an initial non-refundable deposit of £100.
Payment deadlines will then be as follows:
£100 by Friday 15th July
£165 by Friday 30th September
The closing date for the receipt of deposits is Wednesday 8th June. Places on the trip will then be allocated in accordance with the criteria mentioned above. Any student who is not allocated a place will have their deposit returned.
As a final word, I would like to point out that this trip is an extra-curricular activity and as such, it is not an essential part of any academic study. Therefore parents should not feel obliged to send their child/ward on the trip but should only give their consent after having given careful consideration to the full financial commitment required.
