Dear Parents and Carers
English and mathematics mock examinations
As you will be aware from our recent Year 11 KS4 English and mathematics strategy briefing, we have been working intensively with our students both in lessons, in progress and aspiration time and after school to address weaker areas identified from previous practice examinations. In addition we have provided a personalised English and mathematics pack for very student to work on independently at home.
As we identified in the briefing, we want to measure the impact of this intensive 6 weeks’ work on the students’ progress and so will be undertaking further mock examinations in English and mathematics starting next week.
6th March English a.m.
7th March English a.m.
8th -10th March – mathematics walking talking mocks in maths lessons
13th March Mathematics Paper 1
14th March Mathematics Paper 2
15th March Mathematics Paper 3
Full attendance has never been more vital as we approach the run-in to the GCSE examinations which begin in May. A summary of the GCSE timetable is included with this letter and will be followed soon with a personalised timetable for your child.
Following the analysis of these mock examinations a further intensive personalised programme will be put in place in the run up to the final examination. It is vital that our students revise for these examinations in order to embed knowledge that they will be able to draw on in the final examination. This cannot all be left until just before the final examinations. Please encourage your child to prepare well for these examinations.
