Highly Able Students

St Mary's is committed to helping all our students reach their fullest potential, educationally, creatively and personally.

Our highest achievers, referred to as Highly Able students, are invited to join an exciting programme of curriculum-based and extra-curricular activities.

This culminates in Sixth Form with opportunities to attend summer schools at Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell Group universities.

Highly Able

It all starts in our partner primaries...with our regular Year 4 Highly Able Workshops, which run over a number of weeks using St Mary's extensive Science, Maths, English, Art and IT facilities.

Students from seven primary schools take part in the workshops and choose one of the following:

  • Exciting English
  • Performing Arts (including Drama, Dance and Music)
  • App making in Computer Science
  • Scintillating Science
  • Amazing Art
  • Mesmerising Maths
All the workshops are designed to challenge and advance students' thinking, problem solving and creativity skills.
